It is probably the best hotel in Merida (I have tried several), it is in the same square of Spain in the center, which is also a drawback sometimes to park. It is a fully restored historical building with a beautiful central courtyard.
In several rooms the smell of pipes is very significant, despite the fact that they take great care to always leave the plugs on the bath and sink drains, etc. in place. From my point of view the biggest drawback is the furniture, totally anti-ergonomic, with a lot of "Roman design" but a disaster in utility, mainly the chairs, if your idea is to use the room for work, computer, etc, maybe you should think about another hotel. Another inconvenience that can be very annoying for some people is the amount of light that comes in through the windows despite the curtains; they are placed very far from the glass and too much light actually comes in, which can be very annoying to sleep depending on each person. The question of parking is also complicated because it is a hotel in the heart of the city, the alternative offered by the hotel is very expensive. On the other hand moving around the hotel with luggage is not at all comfortable as there are several steps on the floors. Some receptionists have an overly over-acting and unnatural attitude, with a very high tone of voice, although always correct. A good breakfast, although very expensive.

site itself, because of the building and location. that little pool on the roof, is very lively in the summer heat. people at the hotel, fantastic.
Details, incomprehensible in a five-star: a single light switch for the corridor and room (if one occupant is in bed and another wants to take something out of the wardrobe in the corridor, bothers the one in the bed, looks for his things in complete darkness, despite the fact that there is a door in the middle), strange installation of the hairdryer under a lampshade that does not allow the hairdryer to be removed without forcing the lampshade, poor ventilation of the bathroom. But, strangest thing, room service for breakfast: on our first day, they serve breakfast for one of the rooms we had... with the coffee with milk served, at half a cup and cold! We complained and they corrected it the other days, although.. What I said: little details that take away some of the points of the five stars.

The hotel's fine architecture and the spacious Junior Suite. We explored the nearby Roman ruins and enjoyed the bustling plaza just outside. The staff was friendly, and the breakfast buffet had a nice variety to start our day right.
We faced some challenges with parking, as it wasn't clearly communicated how we could access the hotel given the street restrictions. It took us a while to figure it out, frustrating.

Location: the hotel was near Plaza de Espana as well as the very centre of Merida. Stayed in huge guest room with nice roman decor.

The beautiful and well located hotel
The room is very well decorated, beautiful and very large but the window overlooks an inner courtyard right in a corner, if you open it. Apart from not getting any air there was an armchair where you could find someone sitting and you in the room without any privacy. The ventilation of the room was very bad because of this detail. Although you can understand that there are several types of rooms depending on the price, that room for the category of the hotel is a shame to be assigned to you. We said it at the reception, and although they listened to us and were very polite, you can see that the solution was not in their hands. I don't go back to that hotel, I prefer less luxury and a room with a window to the outside and be able to air it out whenever I want.

location of the hotel, in the heart of Merida, to go on foot to any place in the city. The building. an old palace and hotel's Almohad decoration are extraordinary, hotel's furniture invites you to relax. sit down and rest in the hotel's spacious hall, breakfast. complete and varied, salty and sweet foods. bread, fruit, coffee. great, willingness of the staff to do anything that was not already prepared: eggs. bacon,
As for the hotel itself, given the type of building and situation, it lacks a car park (logical), although they solve this by offering to take the car themselves to a car park (of course with an extra charge). As for breakfast, type of ham and loin could be improved: at least -given the category of the hotel- it should be Iberian.

The bar area has no soul, just like my visit here. I expected at least a complimentary drink to make up for these disappointments but, obviously, that would have been too much to ask. How disappointing!

A good central location in Merida -quiet,well apponted room at a fair price
Central Merida traffic very much a one-way system and the Hotel not easy to find.If arriving by car, short stay bags drop off parking only(NO Hotel parking),with expensive public car park ten minutes walk.

Unbeatable location, right in the Plaza de Espana, surrounded by restaurants, terraces, shops and everything you need. Professionalism in reception accompanied by kindness from all the people who attended us. Correct breakfast, nothing remarkable for a 5 star, correct and friendly staff. The wide room in our case with views to the square, previous request that was granted to the same price, very comfortable bed, free minibar with water and refreshments( it is thanked). Amenities in the bathroom are scarce. Good towels. Good shower pressure. Parking service, in weekend easy to park zone ORA, from Saturday at 14:00 to Sunday, free. We request the checkout for two hours later and without problem, so everything positive in this magnificent hotel.

Tales from the unexpected
A fine hotel set in a vibrant square. The amazing atrium served as the perfect backdrop for breakfast. Fantastic staff were always ready with a smile and helpful tips for nearby attractions. Nightly walks allowed us to savor local dining, but do brace for some plaza noise. Valet parking was efficient yet a bit pricey.

The location is great and the hotel architecture is excellent, the room size is good and so are the bathrooms, but the beds are too hard.
Smokers are everywhere. Smoke constantly blows into the lobby - too bad if you are smoke sensitive. They have a nice indoor restaurant but they don't use it much, they force you to sit out on the terrace with the chronic smokers, when you ask to be moved from the smoke they look upon you as a complaining person and become less friendly. The food is below standard. Some days the pool is open other days not, they don't tell you why not. If you have a front room the smoke will waft up from the terrace and into your room. The beds are too hard.

We had a great stay in a lovely historic town.
Location: the hotel was very close to the central square, shopping and tourist sights and many restaurants and bars. In a hurry we visited Burger King nearby. Stayed in huge guest room with double bed.
